LA GRANGE, IL — The Buona restaurant chain plans to open its newest location next Wednesday in Countryside, just across the road from La Grange village limits.
The restaurant will be at 2 W. Plainfield Road, the southwest corner of Plainfield and South La Grange roads. It has hired more than 50 people.
Now, the nearest Buona restaurants are in Berwyn and Hillside. All the chain’s restaurants are in the Chicago area.
Buona focuses on Italian beef. Its first restaurant opened in Berwyn in 1981, founded by Joe and Peggy Buonavolanto.
To celebrate the grand opening in Countryside, the restaurant plans a donation day on Tuesday, starting at 5 p.m. All menu items will be half off, with all proceeds going directly to the Center for Independence Through Conductive Education, a charity that focuses on helping children and adults with physical disabilities maximize their independence, according to Buona.

After early success at two new suburban locations, the iconic South Side ice cream parlor is expanding its partnership with Buona Beef to open a location on the North Side next spring.
Buona restaurant had a soft opening Tuesday in the Lakemoor Commons shopping center at routes 12 and 120.
